Gigi's Bench

Gigi's bench, via della Madonna, Livorno
On this bench Gigi, a homeless, spent most of his daily time
He died for a fall one month ago, at the “Mercato Centrale”
The sign says: For us you'll be here forever... Goodbye Gigi

A nice memorial. Last month, I only thought about his death and how he possibly spent his life. Today, I'm looking at the bench and thinking it wasn't a very comfortable place to spend that much time. We have beds and chairs. Some people live on a hard bench.

Gigi.
I wonder how it would change things if we knew the names of the homeless we walk past on every trip to Jerusalem.

I've got a rare pic (I don't do benches that much ;-)) of a bench in Seattle, complete with trash underneath it. E-mail me if you would like it, I can't e-mail you for technical reasons that I'd rather not go into (I live back in the Middle Ages and like it that way!)
